Middle East Peace Meeting in St. Louis

Local Youth Circus Troupe host Jewish /Arab youth circus

Contact: Jessica Hentoff 314-226-3633

In a time when no one else seems able to find a true road map for peace in the Middle East --- there are some amazing children who have found a way. When you see them together, you are struck by their abilities--- their abilities to juggle, balance and fly through the air: but more importantly, you are struck by their abilities to trust, to work together and to give to others.

The Galilee Arches are reuniting in St. Louis, at City Museum! The Galilee Arches are members of two different youth circus troupes; together they form the Galilee Arches. The St. Louis Arches are students from the Circus Day Foundation, a circus school based inside of City Museum, who come from different neighborhoods throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. The Galilee Circus is a Jewish/Arab youth circus from Northern Israel.

Last summer, the St. Louis Arches went to Israel where they did their first collaboration with the Galilee Circus. As they toured Israel, they demonstrated, in a breath-taking way, what can happen when people of different nationalities and backgrounds build something together. They are only children--- but they have a lot to teach the rest of the world.

This summer, the Galilee Circus will be here, in St. Louis, to show St. Louisans what over 2000 people witnessed last year in Israel. In the words of Rabbi Marc Rosenstein, from the Galilee Foundation for Value Education: “ I think many who saw the shows felt the same tears in their eyes, maybe out of the feeling one is seeing a vision of something that we all long for... the total obliteration of barriers, whether social, economic or gravitational.”

The Galilee Arches promote peace though pyramids, joy though juggling and harmony through handsprings. They will be appearing at City Museum, home of the St. Louis Arches’ and the Circus Day Foundation and at other locations. They are also looking for individuals or organizations who would be interested in booking or sponsoring shows by the combined troupe or providing other financial or logistical support.
